Promise

I’ve made promises before. It’s good to be trusted and taken at my word. There have been times when I promised something to one of my kids and couldn’t follow through. I’m actually reluctant to make many promises because sometimes it’s out of my power to keep them.  If I tell my sons that I will be home by 4 PM, I get really frustrated when I don’t make 4 PM.  I learned to tell them that I will try to be home at 4 PM – they know that there is a chance that I won’t make that.

God made promises in His Word that live on today. He keeps His promises and His Word is rock solid. I can “hang my hat” on His promises, after all – He is God the Creator of Promises.  Check this out…

22 “All people everywhere,

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

    follow me and be saved.

I am God. There is no other God.
23 I will make a promise by my own power,

    and my promise is true;

what I say will not be changed.

I promise that everyone will bow before me

and will promise to follow me.
24 People will say about me, ‘Goodness and power

    come only from the Lord.’”

Everyone who has been angry with him

will come to him and be ashamed.
25 But with the Lord’s help, the people of Israel

will be found to be good,

and they will praise him. (Isaiah 45:22-25 NCV)

God is keeping His promises to me. He never leaves me alone – He is always with me.  He will direct my path IF I will listen to His directions. He is full of power beyond measure, yet He is kind and gentle to listen to my heart as I cry out to Him.  I can’t imagine life without Him. He holds me together when I’m struggling. He’s strong when I’m weak and helpless.

The Creator of Promises keeps His Word – He never fails!

 Pressing On!
