Night Vision

soldier with night vision gogglesI don’t have the extra ability to see really well in the dark. Many years ago, the military came out with “night vision goggles”. These goggles gave the person wearing them a distinct advantage for seeing in the dark.

I’ve read in the word many times about how evil behavior and sinful acts love the cloak of darkness. The Lord doesn’t need night vision goggles to see our deeds done in darkness. He sees all of my sin all of the time. The elders of Israel miscalculated His ability to see in the dark. Check this out….

12 He said to me, ‘Son of man, have you seen what the elders of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, “The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.”’ (Ezekiel 8:12 NIV)

As I read that passage there are times that I don’t feel like the Lord is close – but He is. There are times when I feel forsaken – but He hasn’t forsaken me. I’m reminded this morning that even though I can’t see Him, He sees me. He knows all about me, my struggle with sin and He gives me grace and mercy instead of punishment that I deserve. I realize that He sees EVERYTHING and that absolutely nothing is hidden from His sight – day or night!

Pressing On!
