Life!

He is RisenThis is my most favorite Sunday of the whole year. This is the day we celebrate Jesus conquering death. He rose from the dead on Sunday and this is the Sunday we celebrate that fact – Easter!  I love knowing that death is not the end. I love knowing someone who has faced death and won. My God is the Creator of Life – He controls life and sustains life. He heals and saves. He comforts me and holds me close when it’s time to release someone from this life to eternal life through death.

He has taught me to not fear death. He has taught me to live –really live my life for Him while I’m here. I want my life to count and touch as many lives as possible for His honor and His glory – not my own.

I love this picture in Ezekiel when the dry bones come back to life!  It is certainly a picture of the Power of God over death. The people’s body was gone and just the bones were left. Check this out….

I felt the power of the Lord on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and put me down in the middle of a valley. It was full of bones. 2 He led me around among the bones, and I saw that there were many bones in the valley and that they were very dry. 3 Then he asked me, “Human, can these bones live?”
I answered, “Lord God, only you know.”
4 He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 This is what the Lord God says to the bones: I will cause breath to enter you so you will come to life. 6 I will put muscles on you and flesh on you and cover you with skin. Then I will put breath in you so you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. While I prophesied, there was a noise and a rattling. The bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked and saw muscles come on the bones, and flesh grew, and skin covered the bones. But there was no breath in them.
9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the wind.[a] Prophesy, human, and say to the wind, ‘This is what the Lord God says: Wind, come from the four winds, and breathe on these people who were killed so they can come back to life.’” 10 So I prophesied as the Lord commanded me. And the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a very large army. (Ezekiel 37:1-10 NCV)

I love Ezekiel’s answer when asked, “Can these bones live?”  He answered, “only You know Lord”.  God can do anything He wants at any time He wants. He can put people in power and remove people from power at His wish. He can make dead people come back to life. He can do anything!

God is a God of life! He is the originator of Life. He gives life to all we see and know. Without Him this place called earth would not exist.  I want to take time today (especially today) to thank Him for life – my life and the lives of my children and family. I see Him in them. I gain some perspective from God as I live and serve as a husband and Dad.  The life I have in the Lord is a perspective like no other angle. I will celebrate and worship Him today with restored passion and love. He is worthy of all my praise, my devotion – my life!

Pressing On!
