Lazy

This word is not a good word where I grew up. Being lazy takes no effort or energy on my part. I think that sometimes I need to take some time off and rest from my work. I’m not talking about the lazy person who doesn’t work. I believe that everyone can work at something.  I don’t think that I have to work to find fulfillment in life, but my work does give some sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. I love how Solomon tells us to study the ants and how they work. Check this out….

 6 Go watch the ants, you lazy person.
       Watch what they do and be wise.
 7 Ants have no commander,
       no leader or ruler,
 8 but they store up food in the summer
       and gather their supplies at harvest.
 9 How long will you lie there, you lazy person?
       When will you get up from sleeping?
 10 You sleep a little; you take a nap.
       You fold your hands and

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

lie down to rest.
 11 So you will be as poor as if you had been robbed;
       you will have as little as if you had been held up.  (Proverbs 6:6-11 NCV)

Ants show us that work can pay off. It can help get me prepared for hard times to come. A lazy person often gets what they deserve – nothing.  I believe that God worked in creation of the world. I believe that He likes to see us use our time and our gifts to work.  Work usually serves someone or something. When I work, I’m serving others, but I’m also getting paid and that serves my family by providing food, shelter and clothes.

I like to see people with a good work ethic. More often than not their hard work will be rewarded.  I love a good “Power Nap” as much as the next person, but if I haven’t worked, then the nap is not the same.  I don’t want to be known as lazy, but I also don’t want to be known as a “workaholic” either.
