Large & In Charge

For God so loved the world... God holding world with crossThe last time I checked the Lord is still in charge of this earth that He created and everything and everyone on the earth. It seems that mankind (I represent that description) sometimes acts like we are in charge. The Lord is the Maker of Heaven and Earth. He sustains all that I know and see.

Baruch, who was Jeremiah’s scribe or “secretary” was having a bad day and was complaining or whining about things. The Lord sent a special message via Jeremiah. Check this out…

1 When Baruch son of Neriah wrote on a scroll the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 You said, ‘Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’ 4 But the Lord has told me to say to you, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth. 5 Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’” (Jeremiah 45:1-5 NIV)

Every now and then I need to be reminded that my life journey is for God’s Glory and not my own. It’s a bit easy to get sidetracked when someone notices my God-like characteristics. It’s very tempting to say “thanks” and think to myself what a nice person I am. I could do nothing without the Lord. I am nothing without the Lord. I want to always have a willing heart for Him to shape and mold. I want to honor Him for sure in my regular, every day life. I don’t want to complain for the stress I’m feeling because He can handle it anyway. He can actually give me the strength to push through all sorts of pain and stress. He is most definitely in charge of my life and journey. I just need to rest in Him. I just need to “breathe Him in” and keep proper perspective on my circumstances.

Pressing On!
