Heavenly Worship

Sunset worshipI love to worship God. I believe God loves it when I worship Him. I try to describe His Goodness, His Holiness, His Mercy, His Heart – I could go on and on. When I worship God, I realize how small I am. I realize how unholy I am, because He is Holy. I believe everyone worships – just not the right person. I’ve been guilty of worshipping myself – my wants and wishes. I’ve been guilty of worshipping my work, my stuff, my money – I could go on and on.

In reading in Revelation, I love the imagery that seems to throw people into a new stratosphere of thought. John was trying hard to use his words to describe something impossible to describe. I believe he understood what they were saying, but I’m not so sure he understood all the imagery and symbolism, but he sure did capture a lot.  The scene that blessed me this morning was when the Lamb of God – Jesus was opening the scroll and worship started in heaven – a pretty cool scene I’ll bet. Check this out…..

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength

and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be praise and honor and glory and power,

for ever and ever! (Revelation 5:11-13 NIV)

Worship began in heaven and is completed when it reaches into my heart. I worship Him because He saved me. I worship Him because He loves me. I worship Him because He is worthy of my praise. I worship Him simply loving Him and living for Him. My hearts affection and my minds attention are focused on Him. In worship, I direct my attention to Him and He directs my thoughts and actions so that I worship Him with all of who I am.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
