Believe

Elderly man prayingThis word is a part of my every day existence. In dealing with the public as well as colleagues in the Real Estate business, I’ve learned to believe what people tell me until I’m proven otherwise. I try to believe in people for the most part. There are some people who’s reputation for dishonesty screams out and their “word” my require verification.

Abram was a man of deep faith in God. He walked with God and he was known as a friend of God. His conversations with God were real and significant. Check this out…

1 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:

‘Do not be afraid, Abram.

    I am your shield,

    your very great reward.’

4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: ‘This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.’ 5 He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars – if indeed you can count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’

6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. (Genesis 15:1; 4-6 NIV)

I am inspired by Abram’s example. He wasn’t perfect, but he was faithful to the Lord. I love the promise of God to be his shield and his “very great reward”. I love the depth of the relationship that Abraham has with the Lord. I sometimes question my ability to have that level of close intimate relationship with the Lord. I believe He wants to walk with me through anything that happens. I believe He wants to walk with me everywhere I go and whatever I do. The Lord is faithful and consistent to my relationship with Him. I’m the one that acts a bit “wishy washy” and sometimes plain stupid. I can be so self-centered instead of “God-centered”. Abram was deeply committed to the Lord. Abrams deep faith blessed the Lord.

Pressing On!
