Shelter
The northern part of the United States has seen nearly record cold temperatures this past week. The high last Wednesday in Chicago was -17F and the low temp was -20. I remember growing up in Kentucky getting down below zero a few times, but nothing quite like that. I like the climate here in Georgia and I decided to stop whining about 20-degree weather considering how bad it was up north. My heart goes out to people who have no home or a warm place to reside. I know that there are times that we all need shelter from the elements of weather. There are also times we need shelter from the hard events of life. Isaiah was speaking to Israel about the destruction of the wicked and the Lord’s plan for the righteous. Check this out….
5 Then the Lord will provide shade for Mount Zion
and all who assemble there.
He will provide a canopy of cloud during the day
and smoke and flaming fire at night,
covering the glorious land.
6 It will be a shelter from daytime heat
and a hiding place from storms and rain. (Isaiah 4:5-6 NLT)
I want the Lord to shelter me from the things that could bring me harm. I need His shelter from the storms of life. I need His shelter from the destruction of others. His shelter provides protection and a break from the hardships of life. I would rather have the Lord with me walking through a storm than to have a storm free life. I have learned more of His heart in the storms than in times of peace and calm.
I need you oh I need you.
Every hour I need you.
My one defense, my righteousness.
Oh God how I need you.
