Crossroads
Crossroads can be a bit challenging and dangerous if it’s not a four-way stop or there’s a traffic light. Crossroads present choices of direction. In Georgia, many of our crossroads have been made into roundabouts. I’m pretty confident that this came from our English ancestors. In a four-way stop, all traffic has to come to a stop and whoever was there first is supposed to go first. It can be slow and paralyzing of the traffic flow. A roundabout actually is a circle and you keep moving counterclockwise in the circle until you find the road you are planning to drive on. I have grown to like roundabouts better than standard four-way stops for sure.
I’m thankful these days for GPS on my phone, so that I now know which direction I should take to get to my desired location. There were times when intersections were confusing about which way to go.
The Lord has become my GPS (God Positioning Service) in my daily walk. I ask Him a lot of questions about directions and decisions that I’m faced with. The Lord really wants to direct input and influence in to my decisions regarding my life. Jeremiah speaks on behalf of God to the people of Judah and Israel. Check this out….
16 This is what the Lord says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’
17 I posted watchmen over you who said,
‘Listen for the sound of the alarm.’
But you replied,
‘No! We won’t pay attention!’ (Jeremiah 6:16-17 NLT)
I want to choose the godly way every time.
I want to notice the way that the Lord wants me to go.
I want to find rest for my soul.
I want to find the peace that comes when I choose the Lords way.
There are times when the Lord directs me to the right or left. There are times He tells me to go straight. At other times, He directs me to turn around and go back where I came from. I want to study His Word and listen as He directs my life, my choices, my hopes and dreams. I want to choose the way that honors Him. I want to want what He wants. I want to have the courage to always walk in His Way.
Pressing On!
