Animal Trainer
I heard a guy say once that he was an animal lover – he loved how they taste. My wife loves animals more than I do. My son has a dog and he’s a good pet dog and he obeys his masters most of the time. I’ve been to the zoo and observed how wild animals can be trained to do what their trainers teach them. I’ve also heard stories of how a well-trained wild animal will revert to his instincts under certain circumstances. I think that it’s best if we don’t try to domesticate and train some of earths wildest animals.
James takes on a really strong subject and compares our tongue to a wild animal. This subject is addressed very directly in James. Jesus is very subtle, when He teaches on this subject. He talks about “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”. James says the tongue is a real problem. Check this out….
7 People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! (James 3:7-10 NLT)
The Lord Himself can help us tame and train our tongues. We need His help desperately to control the things we say. I believe the things I say start with the things I allow into our heart via the entertainment and information sources that I use. I need to allow His Holy Spirit to filter what I see, what I read, what I hear.
I want to fill my heart with the things of God. I want His Wisdom and His Insight for my every day work and free time. I want Him to be the KING Of My Heart for sure. This is the ONLY way, that my tongue doesn’t totally embarrass me. The Lord is the CREATOR of every animal including humans and He is the ONLY One Who can help control my tongue.
Pressing On!
