Generous
I love being around generous people. They are just so different. They are refreshing and kind. They are often full of joy. They often have a deep faith that drives their generosity.
I’m still growing in generosity. I have a lot to learn from others and from the Lord for sure. I have been the recipient of another’s generosity before and it was a HUGE blessing to me and my family.
I love Paul’s one-page letter to Philemon. He is complimentary of Philemon’s generosity. Check this out…
4 I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, 5 because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people. 6 And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. 7 Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people. (Philemon 1:4-7 NLT)
Generous people often have a reputation of being generous.
Generous people are considerate and kind.
Generous people are often not wealthy.
Generous people find great joy in giving and serving others.
It doesn’t take rocket science to be generous, but it does often require some heart work. If I buy the story that our culture is telling about wealth and riches, then generosity is stupid. The more I study Jesus, the more generous I can become toward others. I’m thankful for the generosity of the Lord toward me and my family. He has blessed me way more than I deserve and He calls me to be a blessing to others!
Pressing On!
