Time
When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is look at the clock. I’m sometimes waking to the music playing from the clock. As my day begins, I operate according to the clock and calendar. These two tools provide the structure for my day. I still have a lot to learn about managing my time. There are times that it seems like, I’m being managed by the clock and the calendar instead of the other way around.
I was reading a Psalm of Moses this morning and he mentioned time at least three times in the short passage. I was reminded of how precious time here on earth is. Check this out…
4 For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours.
12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. (Psalm 90:4,12,14 NLT)
God’s time realm is quite different than ours 24-Hour Day. He operates in an eternal time zone instead of a daily or yearly time. Sometimes when I’ve had a long day, it always gets shorter when I’m looking back upon it. Sometimes the years are short even if the days are long. I remember a Kenny Chesney song called “Don’t Blink”.
I want my life to be full of love, respect, and honor toward others. I want to be known for walking close to the Lord. I don’t want to be judgmental or hateful toward others. I want them to know the hope that I have. I believe that Jesus is the One and Only Son of God. He came to introduce us to our God of Grace, Mercy, and Love. This life is really a “brief preparation” for the next life.
I want to make my days here on earth to count toward the eternal time frame. I don’t just want to count my days here on earth. This is easier to write about than to live out daily. I’m going to keep pursuing the heart of God with the balance of my time here on earth.
Pressing On!
