Useless

Obedience Respect Responsibility Words Honor AuthorityThere have been many times and situations where I’ve felt absolutely useless. If I don’t have anything to contribute to the situation, I wonder why I’m even there. I’ve learned that the Lord has all sorts of ways to use me even when I can’t see it. If I keep walking with Him daily, He will find all sorts of ways to use me.

The people of Jerusalem were disobeying the Lord. They were rebelling at every turn. He uses the uselessness of a vines wood to describe them. Check this out….

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 ‘Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest? 3 Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on? 4 And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything? 5 If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred? (Ezekiel 15:1-5 NIV)

The Lord is serious about obedience. I think that this is the most important component of my faith. If I believe He is Who He says He is, then obedience is not a tall order. Obedience to the Lord needs to be my way of life. He can use people who are obedient. He would rather have my obedience than anything else I could bring. My talent; my treasure; my service; my worship – it’s useless without obedience to Him.

I will walk in obedience to the Lord today. I will listen for Him to speak. I will notice the directions He’s pointing for me to take. I want my life to be useful to Him, therefore I will walk in obedience before Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
