Zombie

zombie in the moonlightThis is the time of year when I see all sorts of Halloween costumes around. From Super Man to Duck Dynasty and everywhere in between you can put on a mask and pretend to be someone you’re not. People dress up like zombies, witches and goblins as well. Zombies are defined as a corpse that is supposedly revived by witchcraft. I’m not a fan of Halloween because it’s origin and it’s recurring theme involve a lot of background in evil. I did find that Paul speaks of being dead to sin and alive in Christ. The timing of reading that with all the zombies and goblins around is a bit funny. Check this out…

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:11-14 NIV)

I have been raised to life from death, but I’m not a zombie! I will battle sin in my body until the day I meet Jesus face to face. Paul challenges the Roman believers and me to not let sin be my master. I am no longer under the law but under grace, therefore I should run from sin because I love God and His Presence in me matters! I need to flee from sin and any appearance of sin. I once was lost but now I’m found. I’m full of life and I live the abundant life NOT a zombie life. I’m dead to sin and alive in Christ. I’m walking “alive” not “walking dead”!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
