Worship Perspective

Sunset worshipThis word speaks to a point of view toward a person, situation or thing. I sometimes have to really check my perspective regarding a certain subject or even a particular person. I believe that worship should have a proper perspective. Let me make it clear that Creator God should be the focus of my worship. He doesn’t share the stage of my heart with anyone or anything else. I have enjoyed reading the book of Revelation. The brother, John has seen some pretty crazy stuff. I think he really struggled for words to describe all that he saw. He even mistook the messenger for a moment. Check this out….

8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. 9 But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!” (Revelation 22:8-9 NIV)

In “church world”, it seems that we have taken our eyes off the Lord and become distracted by music and style of worship. There are people I know who are adamant that contemporary worship style is the only way to worship God. There are also people I know who believe that traditional worship is the best. I think maybe this is a colossal case of “missing the point”. Our worship should be from deep within our heart. I should not put on a pedestal, the person or person’s leading worship. I should not put on a pedestal, the person bringing the Word of God. I should put God on the pedestal of my heart and ONLY Him!

We can worship God at work, play or anywhere at any time. It’s about the pedestal of my heart. When I worship God, I give Him the proper place of leadership in my life. I shouldn’t worship the journey that brought me here. I shouldn’t worship the people who influenced me along the way. I should ONLY worship Creator God and seek to follow Him and His Way.  If I loose perspective on worshipping God, I might just loose my way – period.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
