Walk

Group of students talkingI’m told that walking is good exercise. I do walk….occasionally. I walk from my chair to my car or from my office to my car.   🙂  I actually should walk a lot more than I do. I remember when I was 20 years of so younger that I ran at least 3 miles a day. I remember hearing how bad that was on my knees. Once I got out of the habit, I never picked it up again. I’m not afraid of walking – I know it’s good for me. I just get too focused on all that needs to be done and leave out the exercise regimen that I need. Since I’m in decent shape, I don’t think about walking that much, but I do walk daily a good bit each day.  I enjoyed reading this Psalm as it reminded me of my spiritual walk. Check this out….

Blessed are all who fear the Lord,

    who walk in obedience to him.
You will eat the fruit of your labor;

   blessings and prosperity will be yours.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine

    within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots

    around your table.
Yes, this will be the blessing

   for the man who fears the Lord.
May the Lord bless you from Zion;

    may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem

    all the days of your life.
May you live to see your children’s children

    peace be on Israel. (Psalm 128:1-6 NIV)

I believe my spiritual walk to be way more important that physical walking. What good will it be if I’m in great physical shape, but die not knowing the Lord. I want to keep the main thing (my walk with the Lord) the main thing. I want to walk every day in obedience to Him. I want to consult with Him every single day about decisions I make. I want His Wisdom in my every day “walking around life”.  I do need to physically walk more, but I want the physical walking to flow out of my spiritual walking.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
