Voice

Vocal cordsI think our voice is an amazing part of who we are. I’ve lost my voice before due to laryngitis and it’s no fun. I can hardly imagine not having a voice to speak and convey the things on my mind and in my heart to others. I’ve had the opportunity to see vocal chords live and in action during an exam of my son’s throat when he had nerve damage to the vocal chord nerve. It was fascinating to see where our voice is formed and how it functions. Having seen that I think about my voice a lot and how it functions from deep inside my throat.  Peter talks about Jesus in his second letter and He specifically remembers hearing the voice of God. Check this out….

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. (2 Peter 1:16-18 NIV)

The voice of God has a distinct sound I’m sure. I feel like I’ve heard it before, but not necessarily audibly. I hear Him speak through His Word into my life. I’ve also heard Him speak through others directly to my heart.  His voice is important to me. I want to make sure I’m tuned in to the frequency that He speaks through. I believe He speaks clearer through His Word to me than any other way. I can imagine the impact of Peter, James and John hearing the very voice of God on the mountain.  They not only heard the voice of God, they saw the Presence of God settle on Jesus. The things that I’ve heard and seen in my journey with the Lord make my faith that much stronger. I believe in God. I believe in His Son Jesus. I believe that Jesus came to seek out lost people and He became the Ultimate sacrifice for all sin. I can now approach God directly because of Jesus. I didn’t hear His voice, but He calls me just the same!

Pressing On!
