Unimportant
There are things that I should do everyday that are important. There are things I do every day that are necessary. There are also things I do everyday that are “unimportant”. I’m pretty sure that I do things that will fit in all three categories. I believe that the most important thing I do every day is spending time with the Lord in His Word. He speaks things into my spirit that I can hardly explain. I feel so connected to Him when He’s speaking.
This morning I read about a vision Ezekiel had while sitting at his house with the elders of Judah there with him. The Lord showed Ezekiel the wicked things that were going on with the people of Judah. They were defying the Lord’s instruction and direction for worship. They were worshipping other gods secretly thinking God would not know. It seems so foolish for them to try to do something without God knowing. He knows everything and sees everything – Who do I think I’m kidding? Check this out…..
7 He said to me, “Do you see, human? Is it unimportant that the people of Judah are doing the hateful things they have done here? They have filled the land with violence and made me continually angry. Look, they are insulting me every way they can. 18 So I will act in anger. I will have no pity, nor will I show mercy. Even if they shout in my ears, I won’t listen to them.” (Ezekiel 8:17-18 NCV)The Lord has spelled out many time in His Word what the IMPORTANT things for me to remember are. He wants to be honored by my thoughts, which usually give birth to behavior. He wants my heart to seek His heart. I believe that the most important thing I can do is to seek Him with all that I am and all that I have. When this life is over and the “necessary things” aren’t necessary – the supremely important thing to note is to know God and to worship Him – everything else, is Unimportant!
