The Fork In The Road

The most famous and quoted baseball player, Yogi Berra said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”  In my line of work as a REALTOR, I drive the roads around where I live quite a bit. I know where many obscure roads are because I’ve been out showing houses there. Occasionally I come up on roads that I’ve never been down or can’t remember ever going down. Sometimes I come to a fork in the road and I’m not sure which one to take.  Jeremiah is reminding the people of Judah that they are at a fork in the road and there is a good option in front of them. Check this out…

5 They should be ashamed of the terrible way they act,

but they are not ashamed at all.

They don’t even know how to blush about their sins.

So they will fall, along with everyone else.

They will be thrown to the groun

Fork In The Road

d when I punish them,” says the Lord.
16 This is what the Lord says:
“Stand where the roads cross and look.
Ask where the old way is,
where the good way is, and walk on it.

If you do, you will find rest for yourselves.

But they have said, ‘We will not walk on the good way.’  (Jeremiah 6:15-16 NCV)

I am faced with a fork in the road every day many times throughout the day. I’m not always sure which road to take, but there is a good way. The good way is the road the Lord wants me to take. If I will listen, He will point out the good way. He will point out the road for me to take. If I listen to myself, I will probably not take the good road. If I am self-centered and full of pride, I will choose a road that brings pride & pleasure to me. If I am humble and broken, I will choose the good road that the Lord has for me. It if often the “road less traveled” by others, but it is the good road – the high road – the fork in the road that I should take every time!

Pressing On!
