Stiff Neck

Neck TensionThere have been times when I awake in the morning and I’ve slept wrong and my neck is very stiff. It’s hard to turn my head side to side when I’ve feeling “stiff neck pain”. I have read many times in scripture where God refers to His people as “stiff necked” people. I came across one such reference this morning. I’m pretty confident that His definition of “stiff-necked” is more about “haughtiness, arrogance and disobedience. Check this out…

23 but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. 24 But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward. 25 From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets. 26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’ (Jeremiah 7:23-26 NIV)

The Lord really wants my time.

The Lord really wants my attention.

The Lord really wants my hearts devotion.

The Lord really wants my focus.

He made me to honor Him. He built me to be in fellowship with Him. He really desires a close connection between Himself and me. That blows my mind at times, because it’s just me. I’m just a “regular person”, with a “regular life”. He is The Creator of Everything and He wants a relationship with me?

I have walked with Him every day for many years now. I am certainly not flawless or perfect. I can most definitely say that the Lord is a Faithful Friend. He keeps His end of the relationship. To make my relationship with the Lord work, I have a response to make to His love and grace!

Pressing On!
