Stick

adhesive rollersThe word “stick” can mean an object that you going to use to steady you as you walk. It can also refer to the function of an adhesive like glue. I’m thinking of stick as an adhesive that keeps me connected. I absolutely love the words of Jesus in John 15 as He has such an intimate dialogue with His disciples. Check this out…

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John 15:1-8 NIV)

The word remain in this passage is synonymous with the word stick. I implies staying glued to the Lord. There are actions that I can do to remain in Him. I can run from Him or remain in Him. He does amazing work in me and through me when I stay stuck to Him. He accomplishes things, He could not do any other way when I remain stuck to Him. If I stay stuck to Him, it’s Him doing things in me and through me. He gets all the glory and honor and I simple stay stuck to Him.

When I’m stuck to Him, I receive all I need to walk in Him. He provides the spiritual nourishment and life when I stay connected/stuck to Him.

I want the Lord to help me stay “sticky” and stay stuck to Him. I want to walk today remaining in Him!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
