Soul Hope

hope ave and change wayI don’t always think about my soul. I think about my physical self – shaving, showering, eating, drinking, exercising (not really) and clothing my body. I don’t always sit around and think about the shape or condition of my soul. I do know the Lord and I talk with Him often about nearly everything. I was reminded today that the Lord is the Keeper of my soul. Check this out…

1 My heart is not proud, Lord,

    my eyes are not haughty;

I do not concern myself with great matters

   or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted myself,

    I am like a weaned child with its mother;

   like a weaned child I am content.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord

   both now and for evermore. (Psalm 131:1-3 NIV)

I really should spend more time on my soul than on my body. My soul is eternal and my body is temporary. My soul is the part that the Lord is most concerned with. My body is what everyone else sees, the clothes I’m wearing, the hairstyle I’ve had forever, and the pudgy stomach that is still too big. The Lord sees my soul. The Lord wants my soul in good condition. The Lord wants me to care for my soul. The hope of my soul is the Lord. He is my Hope for Eternity. He helps me care for my soul. He helps me protect my soul.

If the Lord is the Hope of my soul, then my soul is healthy!

Pressing On!
