Smart

Cheerful man showing thumbs up, over whiteThis word is defined as having some “quick witted intelligence”. I’m not sure if all the people whom I think are smart fit that definition. I think smart also encompasses wisdom. Wisdom implies knowledge, experience and good judgment.  I usually form an opinion about others as to how smart they are. This is not always wise because some people look dumb and act dumb – but it’s just an “act”. They are in fact smart. I don’t like people who thing they are smarter than they really are – that qualifies them as a “smart-elic”…aka “jerk”.

I really want to be wise and smart. I really believe that the person who trusts the Lord and seeks the Lord’s way is wise beyond words or experience. I believe God can reveal things to my spirit that even experience can’t teach. This is not meant to diminish the value of experience, but it is meant to emphasize just how significant the power of the Presence of God in my heart and life.  Paul speaks about this to the church in Corinth. Check this out….

25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:25-31 NIV)

I can be wise in the things of the Lord and He makes me wise in things of the world. He can help me avoid bad decisions and big mistakes when I consult with Him. I want Him to guide me as a Husband and Dad.  I want Him to guide me as I work in my Real Estate business. I want Him to guide me in my relationships.

I know that I’m only smart and wise because of His Presence in my life. I want to walk today in the wisdom of the Lord. I’m excited about facing the day with HIM directing my steps.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
