Power Play

HockeyI am not a huge ice hockey fan although there are times when it’s pretty exciting to watch. I went to a live game and actually enjoyed it- almost caught a puck from the end zone. It is true that you go to a fight and hockey game might break out. There is a penalty that a team has levied against them where one of their players have to sit out for a few minutes. This is called a Power Play and it’s a definite advantage for the team with more players.

The Lord is about to show up and show off in a “Power Play” of His own. He has Moses and Aaron about to announce His power unleashed against the Egyptians. Moses & Aaron had been to Pharaoh once already, but instead of even considering their request to go into the desert to pray, he turned up the heat on their slave labor. But God is about to show Pharaoh and His people Who is really in charge. Check this out…

1 Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.’

2 God also said to Moses, ‘I am the Lord. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. (Exodus 6:1-5 NIV)

The Lord has a way of showing off His Power at just the right time and the right location. I’ve seen His Power at work in my life and the lives of people I know. I’ve also been a part of the people who doubt what He can do. It’s hard to imagine the unlimited Power and Presence of God over any situation that I face. He can help me navigate the toughest circumstances with an unreal peace because of His Presence.

The Lord has more Power than any elite fighting force with the latest intelligence and technology. He is the Creator of all we see and know and He is not the least bit intimidated by man’s power. As this story unfolds, the Lord will use the circumstances of His people to grow their faith and trust in Him. He never lets go and He never lets me down.

Pressing On!
