Plans & Purpose

Making a planSometimes the best-laid plans get changed in an instant. I’ve made plans to go camping with my family. We absolutely love camping. We pack the camper with food, clothes and other necessities like bicycles, chairs and grill – we’re going camping.  So we arrive at the campsite and set up and the rain begins. It’s not as much fun to ride bikes in the rain. The outdoor cooking doesn’t happen. This incredible trip we had envisioned doesn’t turn out the same with bad weather. I’ve learned that I can’t control the weather, so why worry about it.

I’m still learning that when I make plans, I need to keep them within God’s plan for me. He is still in charge of my circumstances and me – He wants what is best for me AND He controls the weather.  Check this out….

20 Listen to advice and accept discipline,

    and at the end you will be counted among the wise.
21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,

    but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
22 What a person desires is unfailing love;

    better to be poor than a liar.
23 The fear of the Lord leads to life;

    then one rests content, untouched by trouble. (Proverbs 19:20-23 NIV)

I want the Lord to trump the plans of my heart. I really want the plans of my heart to be within the scope of His Plans for me.

I want to be counted wise because I accept the discipline and advice of the Lord.

I want to be honest no matter what the costs.

I want to love and be loved.

I want to genuinely respect the Lord and His will for me.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
