New Agreement

AgreementI make agreements all the time with people. I might agree to do something for my wife and children. I might agree to help out a co-worker, client or customer. When I make agreements, I usually check my schedule to make sure I can keep the agreement. I usually know if it’s going to costs more than time. Almost every agreement costs me something. An agreement is synonymous with the word covenant. When my wife and I married, we made a covenant with one another. We made vows to support the covenant and in my everyday life, I seek to honor that agreement/covenant.

The Lord made a covenant with His people in the Old Testament. The covenant was significant and respectful to the relationship that they had with God. The old covenant was replaced with a new covenant. Check this out…

10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel

after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds

and write them on their hearts.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.
11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,

or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness

and will remember their sins no more.
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. (Hebrews 8:10-13 NIV)

God chose to make a new agreement with people just like me. He writes the agreement on my heart instead of in a book or on a scroll.  He walks with me. He talks with me.  His is not aloof somewhere in the distance heaven – He is very near to me and walks with me through life. He also draws me to Himself and His way for me to live. His way is the good way that leads to life eternal. He wants to lead me in ways that protect me and teach me more of His heart. I love the fact that God chooses to forgive my sin and forget my sin.

I really like this new agreement because it’s clearly personal. God is in my business and helping me do business in a way that honors Him I would rather honor God than anything else I could possibly do on this earth. I’m all in with Him. I pledge to honor this new agreement with all that I am and all that I have!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
