Known

There a lots of people who know me. There are a lot of people that know of me. There are a few very close friends that know me very very well.  The Lord knows me best. He knows my thoughts even before I think them. King David penned one of my favorite Psalms and it is very poetic, yet very thorough and the bottom line is: God knows everything. Check this out….

  1 Lord, you have examined me
       and know all about me.
 2 You know when I sit down and when I get up.
       You know my thoughts before I think them.
 3 You know where I go and where I lie down.
       You know everything I do.
 4 Lord, even before I say a word,
       you already know it.
 5 You are all around me—in front and in back—
       and have put your hand on me.
 6 Your knowledge is amazing to me;
       it is more than I can understand.
13 You made my whole being;
       you formed me in my mother’s body.
 14 I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.
       What you have done is wonderful.
       I know this very well.
 23 God, examine me and know my heart;
       test me and know my anxious thoughts.
 24 See if there is any bad thing in me.
       Lead me on the road to everlasting life. (Psalm 139:1-6; 13-14; 23-24 NCV)

 My wife Tina knows me very well. We’ve been married over 18 years and been through lots of life’s struggles together. My 5 children know me very well. They know my habits and they know my schedule. They know my likes and dislikes. They know my favorite foods, my favorite TV shows…they know me.  I have friends and colleagues who know me. They can predict certain behavior from me because they’ve known me for years.  Of all the people who know me, none of them know me like the LORD. Everyone else knows the “edited version” of Dwayne. I watch my words carefully and try to always reveal my thoughts. God knows ALL of me. He knows my impure thoughts as well as my pure thoughts. He knows what I’m thinking even if I don’t say it or if I do say it.

I’m learning to let the Lord continually shape my thoughts and help me keep them pure. I want Him to be honored from the depths of my spirit. I want the people who know me to know that I am who I appear to be – honest, honorable and Christ-like. It’s not an act – it’s who I am and that’s how I want to be known.  My life on earth flows out of the fellowship I have with the Lord.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
