Kindness

God is LoveThere are people who are mean, rude and self-righteous. They can tell you exactly what you are doing wrong in God’s eyes and they don’t mind telling you at all. They are full of themselves but cloaking their arrogance under “spiritual clothing”.  I believe God detests this sort of behavior. We are all sinners in need of grace and the fact that I’m forgiven doesn’t give me some sort of mandate to pass judgment on others even when they obviously doing something wrong. I will never be their lawgiver and judge (unless I run for the office of judge :-/)  Paul addresses some of this in chapter 2 of Romans – check this out….

1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? (Romans 2:1-4 NIV)

I love that last line…”the kindness of God is intended to lead me to repentance”. I am blessed by the kindness of God. I know when I’ve sinned and fallen short of the call He’s put upon my life.

I’m drawn back to Him because of His amazing love and grace. His truth provides the boundaries, but His kindness leads me back to Him. I have hurt the heart of my Father too many times to count and His kindness is like a powerful magnet that draws me back to His heart. That is one of the big reasons I’m a follower of Jesus. His kindness is too amazing to miss.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
