Ignore-ant

Knowledge Triumphs Over Ignorance - Learn to Grow and WinThere are times that I’ve classified my self as ignorant. I know others who fit that word quite nicely as well. This word simply means lack of knowledge, information or awareness about a specific subject. Ignorant is not always the fault of the one being ignorant. For example, there are people in authority who are ignorant to situations of the people they are responsible for because they don’t know about a secret situation or something that has not be brought to their attention or maybe even kept hidden from them.

There were some people who were ignorant about Jesus. They simply weren’t aware of Him and all He meant to them. Once the information is shared and ignorance is removed then the situation is changed. I can still be ignorant if I ignore the facts or pertinent information. I think this is a pretty big issue with people I know today.  The Hebrew writer really made me think about this. Check this out….

1We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. (Hebrews 2:1-4 NIV)

I do believe some ignorance is self-imposed due to a choice to ignore. I can ignore people who do amazing things or have amazing talent. When I hear something valuable that can change lives and ignore it then I’ve reached a different level all together – self-centered stupidity. I’m not sure if that is actually a clinical term but I’ve seen people ignore the call of the Lord on their lives because they are too proud. I’ve seen people ignore the call of the Lord on their lives because of their reputation.

If I ignore the call of the Lord on my life for anything here on earth, I’m being incredible short-sighted and stupid. This earth and all I see is not eternal. I have my eyes on eternity with God – the Creator of the Universe. He knows me. He calls me. He loves me and is incredible patient when I ignore Him or I’m simply unaware of His Presence. I want to be wise and insightful to the Things of God. I want to know His Nature as second nature to me. I want to live all of my days here on earth to honor Him!

Pressing On!
