He Made The Way

Christmas Nativity SceneI love celebrating Jesus’ birthday – Christmas! The story of His birth is beautiful and I’ve heard this story all my life. I don’t get tired of hearing it because the story of Christmas is about God making the way for me to get to Him. He came to earth as a vulnerable little baby to fulfill the plan of The Father.

As I read through the Old Testament, they are predicting and preparing for the Messiah (aka Jesus) to come. The Psalmist David writes about his relationship with God and he gives such great perspective of our God and just how He loves, provides and protects us. Check this out…

1 I love you, Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,

    my shield (sovereign) and the horn (strength) of my salvation, my stronghold.

3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,

    and I have been saved from my enemies.

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;

    he drew me out of deep waters.

17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,

    from my foes, who were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,

    but the Lord was my support.

19 He brought me out into a spacious place;

    he rescued me because he delighted in me. (Psalm 18:1-3; 16-19 NIV)

I feel loved, protected, rescued and connected to my God through His Son. I can’t imagine doing life without Him. I want to grow in my knowledge and understanding of Him. He made the way for me to have a close relationship with Him. He is always making a way – that Who He is. He is so creative and consistent. This thought reminded me of a song I heard many years ago called: God Will Make A Way by Don Moen.

God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me

He will be my guide

Hold me closely to His side

With love and strength for each new day

He will make a way, He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me

And rivers in the desert will I see

Heaven and Earth will fade but His Word will still remain

And He will do something new today

Oh, God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me

He will be my guide

Hold me closely to His side

With love and strength for each new day

He will make a way, He will make a way

Pressing On!
