Hang On

There have been some really dark times in my life over the years. I can tell you that I was at the lowest point in my life and wondering if I could possibly make it through such horrible circumstances. I’m convinced that my faith in the Lord sustained my heart and kept me hope filled even when there seemed to be no hope.

Isaiah is speaking of a time when things will be very hard for his people. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. It will be very, very bad for his people. They will be mistreated and abused. Then he breaks into the hope that is on the horizon. Check this out….

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

15 This will continue until God pours his Spirit from above upon us.
Then the desert will be like a fertile field and the fertile field like a forest.
16 Justice will be found even in the desert, and fairness will be found in the fertile fields.
17 That fairness will bring peace, and it will bring calm and safety forever.
18 My people will live in peaceful places and in safe homes
and in calm places of rest. (Isaiah 32:15-18 NCV)

My favorite part of that passage is the phrase: “God pours His Spirit from above on us.”  The Holy Spirit’s presence changes everything. Even though I can logically explain Him, doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist. The Holy Spirit is incredible at keeping me close to the Lord. He directs; He comforts; He sustains; He delivers; He is a fresh glass of water to my parched soul.  This simple phrase about God pouring out His Spirit lifted my spirit. I am NEVER without hope. I am NEVER alone. I so want His Spirit poured out all over my family, my work, and me every day of my life.

Pressing On!

I agree. It’s thru Christ we live, move and have our being. We are nothing with God’s guidance. Thank you for faithfully posting a devotion every day. There are days I get to read, days I may be in a hurry and not read, and days I don’t get on the computer. But, if I get on computer in AM and don’t see it, I wonder– where’s Dwayne’s post. Remember we all need to lift one another up in prayer. We’re in trying times, and if time lasts, I think it is just the tip of the iceberg!
