God Can Do Anything!

For God so loved the world... God holding world with crossI remember as a kid hearing a song that says “God can do anything but fail”. There is no way at such a young age I could grasp that truth. I’m not sure at what age, I began to understand and cling to that truth. I believe it. My daughter used to go to bed praying for it to snow when the weather was very mild. I would say to here, you’ll have school tomorrow because it isn’t going to snow. She always said to me: “But God can make it snow”! I was reminded then and I’m reminded that God is the Creator of all I see and know. He has complete power and complete control. He can do anything!

Ezekiel was such a “cool, calm and collected” prophet. He comes upon this valley of bones where apparently a whole army of people had died at some point. It had to have been a good while because there was no flesh on them. The Lord gave Ezekiel a really weird command. Check this out….

1 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me to and fro among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’

I said, ‘Sovereign Lord, you alone know.’ (Ezekiel 37:1-3 NIV)

I love the fact that the Lord’s hand was upon Ezekiel. I want the Lord’s hand to stay on me. I want to put my complete trust in Him no matter what is happening around me. I want Him to lead me where He wants. I want Him to speak into me what He wants. I sometimes struggle to believe that the Lord would raise a dead man or make it snow against the conditions. There is a side to me that sides with reason and logic over my faith in the Lord. I want to grow in my depth of understanding of the Lord’s Power and Presence. He can do anything He wishes – when He wishes. That is a super encouraging truth!

Pressing On!
