Dream

Thoughtful little girlI have had many dreams over the years. I’m speaking of thoughts and images that have occurred during sleep. Dreams that are freaky or scary are known as nightmares. I have had my share of those too. I have also experienced dreams that were “cherished aspirations or ideals” that really inspired me to be more than I am currently. These dreams inspire and motivate me all the time. I can’t seem to control the dreams that I experience during sleep. I can control the second type of dream where I think about my future. I really think that the Lord likes to be involved in my aspirations regarding my future.

Jacob, the son of Isaac and Rebekah left his home to go connect with family elsewhere and find a wife. He was also leaving because of what he had done to his brother Esau. On the way He has a dream experience. Check this out…

10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it stood the Lord, and he said: ‘I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.’ (Genesis 28:10-15 NIV)

When Jacob awoke from this dream, he named the place Bethel. This dream was obviously very vivid. The Lord was obviously in Jacobs dream and showed him a stairway (aka ladder) reaching to heaven. As I walk through the Word of God, I feel like the Lord is totally in charge of my dreams. He inspires me to think way outside of who I am to Whose I am and the things I can accomplish with Him in charge. He will direct my path if I will listen to Him and have the courage to walk in the way He has for me.

The dreams I have today can change my today and tomorrow. The dreams I have should align with the call of God upon my life – that is to honor Him; to make Him famous; to obey Him. I want the journey of my life to inspire others to dream about what their life could look like and be like with Him as the Centerpiece of their life. This is one dream that can become my reality day in and day out.

Pressing On!
