Do

This is a small word but carries a pretty big punch. It involves producing and performing. It is most definitely an action verb, not a passive verb. It implies that something is about to happen.

To Do Today!

The Lord wants something to happen in me. He wants me heart to be tuned to His so that WHEN I DO something, my action brings HONOR to HIM!  Jeremiah was speaking strong words to the people of Judah about what to DO to honor the Lord. Check this out…

3 This is what the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: Change your lives and do what is right! Then I will let you live in this place.
23 I also gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Do all that I command so that good things will happen to you. 24 But your ancestors did not listen or pay attention to me. They were stubborn and did whatever their evil hearts wanted. They went backward, not forward. (Jeremiah 7:3; 23-24 NCV)

I believe that the Lord wants His Presence reflected in what I do – How I live. My actions scream out what is inside my heart. The two-letter word – Do must be connected to obedience. I’m going to “do something”, but He calls me to “do what He wants me to do”.  When I follow what He wants me to do, my will is surrendered to His will. I’m not living to please myself, I’m living to please Him.

3 We can be sure that we know God if we obey his commands. 4 Anyone who says, “I know God,” but does not obey God’s commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if someone obeys God’s teaching, then in that person God’s love has truly reached its goal. This is how we can be sure we are living in God: 6 Whoever says that he lives in God must live as Jesus lived. (1 John 2:3-6 NCV)

I can talk about living for God until I’m “blue in the face”. It’s only when my “doing honors Him” that I’m actually going forward! I must put my self-centered will at the foot of the cross and let it go. Jesus died so that I might LIVE and not live here on earth, but live eternally. That’s bigger than any moment or any day here on earth – it’s forever!

I want to BE in His Presence and in His Will. I want to DO whatever He wants. I want to GO wherever He wants. He calls the shots for my life!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
