Cloud=Glory

Beautiful Blue Sky with Clouds and Sun Rays.I think clouds are one of those topics that sort of blow my mind. The Wikipedia defines them as: “In meteorology, a cloud is a visible mass of liquid droplets or frozen crystals made of water or various chemicals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of a planetary body.” I have always loved to look at clouds and I remember my first airplane flight through the clouds – it was pretty wild. I’ve often thought that fog was pretty much that same as a cloud that settles on the ground.

In scripture, the writers often try to describe the Glory of The Lord and they use terms like a cloud. The Glory of The Lord is more of Presence than a Specific Person. I’ll be Ezekiel and John, the writer of Revelation have had some incredible, fun-filled conversations as they talk about the way they described what they saw in their visions compared to what they now know and see.  Check this out…

As I watched, the man with linen clothes went in. 3 Now the living creatures were standing on the south side of the Temple when the man went in. And a cloud filled the inner courtyard. 4 Then the glory of the Lord went up from the living creatures and stood over the door of the Temple. The Temple was filled with the cloud, and the courtyard was full of the brightness from the glory of the Lord. 5 The sound of the wings of the living creatures was heard all the way to the outer courtyard. It was like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. (Ezekiel 10:2b-5 NCV)

I get excited thinking about the Presence of God. I feel a boldness and confidence that is hard to describe. He is so Powerful, Creative, Perfect and Loving – I can rest in Him!  I can simply be me in His Presence. I am His creation and He loves hanging out with me. I feel His Presence when I’m in His Word or simply singing a song from my heart to His. I feel His Presence when a powerful messenger is delivering the Word. I want to notice the Presence of the Lord in my life and in my world every day. I want to live, walk and work in His Presence!

I love the song written and record by Third Day several years ago & I thought of it this morning. Check this out….

Show Me Your Glory

I caught a glimpse of Your splendor

In the corner of my eye

The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen

And it was like a flash of lightning

Reflected off the sky

And I know I’ll never be the same
Show me Your glory

Send down Your presence

I want to see Your face

Show me Your glory

Majesty shines about You

I can’t go on without You, Lord

When I climb down the mountain

And get back to my life

I won’t settle for ordinary things

I’m gonna follow You forever

And for all of my days

I won’t rest ’til I see You again

Show me Your glory

Show me Your glory

I can’t live without You (THIRD DAY)

Pressing On!
Dwayne
