Chain Of Command

Leadership iconThere is always a chain of command. Every company and organization has one. It is often written down and followed carefully. There always has to be a leader who can make the tough decisions. A chain of command doesn’t mean the leader is the only one who can make a decision – it really means “the buck stops with him”. A wise leaders consults his team before making a decision that affects them drastically.

The Lord is the Ultimate Leader. He doesn’t need to consult with anyone or anybody before making a decision. The cool thing is that He listens to my petitions and my cry for help.

He created me.

He cares for me.

He knows me.

The people of Israel were going to be restored because the Lord told them that their days of discipline wouldn’t last forever. He gives the word through Jeremiah that they had hope. Check this out…

33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel

after that time,” declares the Lord.

“I will put my law in their minds

and write it on their hearts.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,

or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest,”

declares the Lord.

“For I will forgive their wickedness

and will remember their sins no more.”

35 This is what the Lord says,

he who appoints the sun

    to shine by day,

who decrees the moon and stars

    to shine by night,

who stirs up the sea

    so that its waves roar—

the Lord Almighty is his name:

36 “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,”

    declares the Lord,

“will Israel ever cease

    being a nation before me.”

37 This is what the Lord says:

“Only if the heavens above can be measured

and the foundations of the earth below be searched out

will I reject all the descendants of Israel

because of all they have done,”

declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 31:33-37 NIV)

The Lord God is “Large and In Charge”. He is the Creator of All. He sustains everything. He has proven to me time and time again that He can carry me and everything and everyone upon His shoulders. I am always subject to His leadership. I could be the President of these United States and I would still be subject to His leadership in my life. He is Lord over everything – there are no exceptions to His chain of command.

Pressing On!
