Candid Camera!

Security cameraWhen I was a lot younger growing up there was a TV show called, “Candid Camera”. The producers of the show would hide cameras and then play a spoof on someone and make them look really silly or stupid. Then at the end of the spoof or skit, the actors would show the victim where the hidden camera was and they would always say, “Smile! You’re on Candid Camera!”  It was actually a pretty funny show at the time, but today “Realty TV” is really “staged reality”.   I’m pretty suspicious of those types of shows, however, with the screaming pace of technology, there are video cameras everywhere and “big brother” could be watching!  There was a movie a few years back called “The Truman Show” that took this to a whole new level.

I believe Someone more significant than “big brother” is watching. The Lord is all-knowing, all seeing and present everywhere!  He knows when I go out and when I come in. He knows my favorite food, TV show….EVERYTHING about me.  That really used to scare me, but now it comforts me. He knows what I need before I ask, but I ask anyway. I think He likes that too – it shows my dependence on Him.

Ezekiel was in a place where God had seen enough. He was about to punish Judah and Ezekiel was on the scene and saw some pretty scary stuff.  Check this out…..

9 Then he said to me, “The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is very great. The land is filled with people who murder, and the city is full of people who are not fair. The people say, ‘The Lord has left the land, and the Lord does not see.’ 10 But I will have no pity, nor will I show mercy. I will bring their evil back on their heads.” (Ezekiel 9:9-10 NCV)

I believe that the Lord is watching over me. He is not present to punish me; His Presence is to PROTECT me!  He wants me to enjoy life as He designed it – it’s more fulfilling that way. He wants me know of His Presence. With the Lord I’m safe in the midst of crisis.  Walking in His way, I’m on time and I’m in the right place. I know He’s here with me and He knows when I’m here with Him. I’ve decided that no matter what others may do or not do – “as for me and my family, we are serving the Lord!” I want to hear the words, “well done good and faithful servant” from the One Who is everywhere and He’s my Everything!

 Pressing On!
