Broken

Many broken glasses against a white backgroundI’ve done my share of “tearing things up” over the years. I don’t always know how to fix the things I’ve broken. Some things that are broken have to be replaced because they can’t be repaired. A broken window has to be replaced with new glass. If I break a piece of furniture, it can often be repaired. King David was broken in spirit over his sin. He writes a beautiful petition to God to save him. Check this out….

9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord:

    my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;

    even the light has gone from my eyes.
21 Lord, do not forsake me;

    do not be far from me, my God.
22 Come quickly to help me,

    my Lord and my Saviour. (Psalm 38:9-10; 21-22 NIV)

In God’s economy, brokenness is a sign of tremendous growth. The Lord loves broken people. Broken people have laid down their pride and ego. Broken people realize that life is about what the Lord wants NOT what they want. The Lord can actually do a lot with a broken person. He can rebuild too much greater strength than ever existed before. He specializes in building the broken. I think one of King David’s strength was his brokenness. He realized that his identity was found only in God.

I need the Lord to build me from brokenness quite often. When the Lord builds broken people, He restores them. You can’t always see the scars of brokenness because they have been restored to a healthy place. I’m so thankful for the restoration of the Lord.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
