Bragger

No one really loves a bragger – except maybe the bragger himself… or herself.  When I brag, I am usually drawing attention to myself, or something I accomplished. I’m not a fan of “braggers” – they get on my nerves.  I like to talk about me but I don’t like to hear others talk about themselves. I want them to talk about me too. In bragging, I’m often trying to elevate myself at the expense of the other person or persons. Jeremiah recorded a good remedy regarding bragging. Check this out….

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

23 This is what the Lord says:
“The wise must not brag about their wisdom.

The strong must not brag about their strength.

The rich must not brag about their money.
24 But if people want to brag, let them brag

that they understand and know me.

Let them brag that I am the Lord,

and that I am kind and fair,

and that I do things that are right on earth.

This kind of bragging pleases me,” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 9:23-24 NCV)

The only bragging that I should be doing is about the Lord. He gets the credit for every wise thing I’ve ever done. I haven’t had an original thought or idea that He didn’t plant. He directs my path constantly and consistently. I will brag about Him, His Power, His Love, His Grace…I can’t say enough about Him. I’m a servant of the King and I’m surrendering daily to make Him Lord of my life. I take no credit for the wise things I’ve done or thought. He is my Advisor and His Spirit is in me and drives my life.will brag about Him every day!
