Beautiful

My Mom once told me that “beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone”! That makes me smile because I can hear Larry the Cable Guy saying something similar.  Beauty is much more than the outside appearance. Our spirit within us reveals true and lasting beauty. It doesn’t hurt if the outside is attractive too. I was reminded of inner beauty when I stumbled across a passage in Isaiah. Check this out…

How beautiful is the person

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

who comes over the mountains to bring good news,
 who announces peace

    and brings good news,

    who announces salvation
 and says to Jerusalem,

    “Your God is King.”
10 The Lord will show his holy power

    to all the nations.

Then everyone on earth

will see the salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:7;10 NCV)

I think that the King James Version speaks of the person delivering the good news as someone with beautiful feet.  I like feet, but I’ve never thought they were beautiful. (I apologize to the Podiatrist.)  I believe that the bearer of good news is always most welcome.

I believe inner beauty is more lasting and strong. I believe that our outside appearance can change quickly with age. I believe that it’s important to cultivate inner beauty as I get older and wiser. I can be mean and grouchy or I can be kind and nice. It’s my choice and it comes from deep within my inner spirit which I’ve devoted to the Lord. I know that everyone can have a rough day, but my general countenance should reflect the joy of Jesus in me. I should reflect and honor Him with my attitude and actions because He’s changed everythingHe is the Good News that I carry with me!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
