A Tribute To My Wife!

I must say that I love being married. I love the companionship. I love the friendship. Marriage is a special relationship, unlike any other relationship on this planet. My wife and I have been married just over 18 years and I love her deeply. It’s true that as the years go by, our love is deeper and much more mature and different than when we were first married. My wife Tina is a Proverbs 31 woman!  Check this out…

10 It is hard to find a good wife,

tina 2013

because she is worth more than rubies.
11 Her husband trusts her completely.
With her, he has everything he needs.
25 She is strong and is respected by the people.
She looks forward to the future with joy.
 26 She speaks wise words
and teaches others to be kind.
27 She watches over her family
       and never wastes her time.
28 Her children speak well of her.
       Her husband also praises her,
29 saying, “There are many fine women,
but you are better than all of them.”
30 Charm can fool you, and beauty can trick you,
but a woman who respects the Lord should be praised.
 31 Give her the reward she has earned;
she should be praised in public for what she has done. (Proverbs 31:10-11; 25-31 NCV)

Tina is not only a great wife; she is also a great Mom!  She became an instant Mom to my three oldest children when we married years ago. She had to learn to be a parent without the benefit of being Mom from childbirth, and the children were not her biological children. That didn’t stop her from loving them as her own. When our son, Matthew was born, she changed even more. She now experienced motherhood in a whole new way. She remained consistent in her character as a mother and wife.

About three plus years ago, she and I talked about adopting a young boy from Nicaragua.  We were one of four families in our church considering adopting 5 children who were in deep need of family to provide for them and offer them hope of a solid future. Tina again stepped into the role of Mom to our son Luke. He responded to her love and he has adjusted well into our family.

I can’t imagine doing life without my wife. She brings balance and completeness to my life that is impossible to describe. This is my feeble attempt to offer tribute to her for who she is and what she means to me. Tina Lyle Hicks is a Proverbs 31 woman!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
